Baby Shower and Dinner with the girls!

On Saturday we had a baby shower for one of my besties Nicole. She is due with her 4th baby BOY in mid- November. Yet we think Mr. Cole just may be making his grand appearance a little earlier than we all think. Just a hunch! (10/31) The shower turned out really well and there were quite a few people there to help us celebrate. I couldn't decide on what pictures I wanted to post so there are ALOT!

Saturday night after the shower we decided to all meet up for dinner at Ninfa's for some yummy Mexican food! We all had a good time chatting and catching up. But as always I had my camera in my purse and never thought to bring it out! :(

Like I said were BFF's ;) Now I know she is going to KILL me but I really dont care. The first thing I noticed about Nicole when I met her and absolutely love about her to this day is her Big smile and infectious laugh. As you can tell from the pictures below. Sorry Nicolie i love you though!

SICK, SICK AND MORE SICK..... CAN WE NOT CATCH A BREAK!

2 weeks ago Kinley had the flu and missed a week of school. Everything was great last week only to wake up with a stomach bug on Saturday. All was better with her yesterday. Then the bug returned. This time he came to visit my sister and brother n law. And this bug was MAD!!!! So as they are recovering today from that, I talked to my mom who apparently woke up sick with what she thought was a sinus/upper respiratory infection of some sort. However tonight she started running fever so my guess is the flu! Did I mention that my dad is still getting over his brain injury and is still home in quite a bit of pain. He can not afford to get sick, as it would be back to square 1 with him. He has felt a little nauseated over the past few days so we are hoping this is just part of his recovery and not something that he too is getting! SO I am asking everyone to please pray for my family to have a speedy recovery.

OH and did I also mention that me and Jeff are going to Waco this weekend! I think we'll stay in a hotel. =)

Hanging out with My Girl!

Last Friday I kept Kinley home from school so that I could take her to the doctor. She had been running fever for over 24 hours and was alittle congested and had a runny nose. I wasn't looking forward to making her cooperate for this visit as I am the FAVORITE aunt, and didn't want my girl mad at me. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot she said " Dr. Yippie" a.k.a Dr. Lippie. So I was ready for whatever miss priss was about to throw my direction. We sat in the waiting room for a few minutes and read a book, then the nurse called her back and took all her vitals. Temp 102. GREAT! She did really well no crying or anything. So I just knew once the doctor arrived it was all going to be over. I am not sure what my sister or my mom do when they have taken her in before but as soon as we walked in the room I sat her directly on the bed and we started reading books and playing with the games in the room. She let her look in her ears, throat and nose. And surprisingly enough never once did my big girl cry. I don't know if she just felt to bad to cry or if she just turned into a big girl or if she was just being brave for her auntie. But either was I was impressed and will take it! We got back to moms and played and watched her favorite Yo Gaba Gaba. From the pictures below you would never guess that she felt bad and was running 101-102 temp. I hated that I had to spend time with her while she was sick so we were not able to go anywhere however I loved that she was so lovey and would just rock with me in the rocking chair.

This is the sweet face of a baby girl with the flu!
Don't you just want to eat her up.

When It Rains It Pours!

While we were home last week I decided to pick Kinley up from school on Thursday so I could spend some time with my girl. As soon as I walked in the building I was told " well she just woke up from her nap and she has fever, its 102 and she cant come back tomorrow." I quickly bit my tongue as I wanted to tell her Thank you very much Captain Obvious! I made my way around to Kinley room and was greeted with a huge smile and a great big AUNTIE as I walked in then it was followed by a couple of tears as she asked " i go home?" I got her home and checked her temp and of course she had fever so the Tylenol began. The night before Shelly was told that she had been exposed a few days earlier by her cousin to the flu, so they took her to the after hours urgent care clinic to get her tested. Her test came back negative so she was sent home with precautions of what to watch out for. So Shelly wouldn't have to miss any work I kept Kinley with me on Friday and took her to her physician where we saw the nurse practitioner. I was told that since her previous test was negative it was very unlikely that at this point it would be positive. I was sent home with a sample of meds, and was told she has cold/allergies. On Saturday she spiked 103, but it come down pretty quickly with Tylenol/Motrin. She continued to run a temp on Sunday and then Monday afternoon spiked 103 again. Since Monday was a holiday of course the doctors office was closed so back she went to urgent care. And well you guessed it.... My sweet baby girl has not only an ear infection but the FLU!
So this means that since auntie M and uncle jeff were exposed to her we too had to start tamiflu! So as if my dads stay in the hospital was not enough fun, we thought we would throw this little kink in the mix as well......That is just the kind of fun people we are!

$111.00 worth of Tamiflu
Kinley even though you have been a sick little girl the past few days. I am so glad I was able to spend some time with you, just me and you! Even if you do give me the flu. But I will gladly spend 111.00$ and take 10 days worth of Tamiflu if it means that you feel better soon.
I love you,
Auntie

Update

Just a quick update on my dad. He was released from the hospital early this afternoon to go home and finally get some rest! According to my mom he is doing alright just trying to keep his pain under control. Please continue to say your prayers from him as he is going to have a rough few weeks ahead of him.

Dad

Well this has been one of the longest weeks ever, physically and mentally and to think its not over yet. I got a call at work last Monday August 31 at 3:30 in the afternoon from my mom telling me that my dad had fallen from an attic rafter about 9-10 feet, and busted his head open and they were in the ER. They were going to take him for a head CT and that she would call me back with the results but for me not to worry... HELLO does she not know what daughter she is talking to! She just made a call to the biggest worrier in the world. After the CT results came back I received another phone call telling me that he had a bleed on his brain and that they were going to put him in ICU and watch him for 24 hours. (famous last words) I worried all night about him and about how my mom was going to take care of him once she got him home since she is just 3 1/2 weeks post op back surgery. We decided to head to Waco after we got off work on Tuesday. Another head CT was preformed on Tuesday and showed the brain bleed to be a little better and his body was absorbing it. However a skull fracture was found as well as frontal lobe bruising. Which is caused from his brain hitting the front of his head during the fall. Later Tuesday they were worried about his blood pressure being so high and his heart rate being so low. (40s) On Wednesday the finally started BP meds which helped ease his headache a little. Wednesday was a bad day with feeling very nauseated all day. He became very light and noise sensitive and everything aggrivated him. Thursday he seemed somewhat better and late afternoon the decision was made to move him to a regular room. On Friday we noticed a bit of improvement as he finally started eatting and sitting up for periods of time in his bed. Friday night they changed his meds from IV to PO (or by mouth) the transition didnt go as well as we had hoped and he ended up having a pretty horrible night Friday. When my mom got to the hospital yesterday he requested no visitors and he didnt want anyone talking in his room. This was hard for us to see and hear since he seemed to be doing so well on Friday. They were able to get his medication by mouth all straightened out and when we went to see him this morning (sunday) he seemed alittle better. Started eatting again and got out of his bed for a little bit. I know that he has a long road ahead of himself over the next few weeks. So please say your prayers that he has a speedy recovery.

RECAP for anything I left out:
Fell 9-10 foot form attic rafter
Cut back of head open-3 staples
Brain bleed
Skull Fracture
Frontal lobe bruising
Fractured rib(s)
Blurry Vision and pain when looking side to side
High blood pressure
Low heart rate
Sever severe severe concussion
I dont think I am leaving anything out, but I think this is enough!
