Day 3 ~ Progresso, Mexico

On Wednesday we woke up in Progresso, Mexico. I was a little worried about this stop I have to say. I had heard a lot of not so great things about this place from a lot of different people but it actually ended up being pretty great! We all decided this vacation that we were not going to take an excursions and feel like we were rushed all day. Remember we were on vacation and our whole purpose was to relax. And that is exactly what we did. We took the bus into town from the cruise terminal and Jeff, dad and Truman made their way to the beach to just sit and have a few drinks, while the 3 girls went shopping a little. After being hounded for all of 30 minutes we decided that we had, had enough and went to catch up with the boys. We literally (no lie) sat at a table on the beach under a thatched umbrella for 5 hours! There was a restraunt across the street that waited on you on the beach. We ordered drinks and chips and just chilled. Mom, Jeff, and Truman even got a massage on the beach for 10$.
While we were sitting there we noticed the mexican police swarm all over the beach talking to this family right in front of us. Come to find out the couples kids we no where to be found. Apparently the 2 little kids (who's age had to be between 3 & 7) wondered down the beach and their parents never saw it. After about 25-30 minutes the finally found them. Needless to say that family packed up quick and got back on the ship.
We made our way back to the ship about an hour before it was time to set sail again and did a little shopping at the terminal. Eventually retuned to the ship, ate some lunch and sat on the back deck as we sailed away from Progresso!

On the beach
Our little umbrella that we sat under ALL day!
The LOONNNGGG pier from the ship to the town.
Notice the man standing there with the little boy.. In just a few short minutes he was GONE!
Now notice the police all over the beach!
Getting their massages. Had their been an empty table I would have been right up there with them. I mean seriously, 10 bucks for 1 hour!
Did I mention that we also got balloon hats?
Mom, I know what your saying..... But its Vacation!

My Dad!
Back at the terminal getting ready to leave
The back of our ship. The deck 2nd from the top on the far right is where we sat as the ship sat sail to our next destination!
Makes you feel pretty small even in the picture huh?
I can't end this post without our nightly towel animal. This by far was my favorite!

Day 2~ Sea Day

Day 2 was just a fun day at sea. We pretty much just hung out all day and had a relaxing time. We spent most of the morning just walking around the ship trying to to figure out where everything was. Me and mom played in the slot tournament which was actually pretty fun. There were 5 rounds and the top 10 people were able to play the last round for a jack pot of $1000. I did pretty well and placed 7th after the 2nd round, however was quickly knocked off the board by the end of round 4th. Oh Well! Jeff and his parents went to the wine and cheese tasting, then we played BINGO. Oh and the most important part of the day was our 2 1/2 hour nap we took. =) This was also the formal night for dinner, so we all got dressed up and went to dinner and the evening show.
(on a side note... the pictures look alittle fuzzy on blogger so click on them to make them bigger)

On deck
I promise there were people on our cruise, even though it doesn't look like it. Remember I told you in the 1st day post that they ship was not to full capacity.
A quick pose

The sunset through the window of our room
The wine we bought at dinner. NO we did not drink all 3 of them in 1 night. Maybe 2 but defiantly not 3. I mean we had to save one for the next night.
At the show after dinner

Towel animal #2
We named this one Spencer. I think I missed him just a little. Notice the 2 invitations with the pens to the side. Since we are past carnival gold card member cruisers now, we were invited to a little party on the 3rd night. But of course we forgot about it. :(

Carnival Cruise Day 1

Well I guess I have put it off as long as I can, so I'll get started before I get behind. I have decided to do these post's day by day. Last week we went on a Caribbean cruise just me and Jeff and our parents. We had a really nice and relaxing time which we all really needed.

We got off to a rainy start Monday morning here in Houston but it cleared up just shortly after we set sail and the rest of the trip ended up being absolutely perfect. We have taken several cruises in the past, however this is the 1st one that we have been on that was not in peak season. And now I am not so sure I will ever take another summer cruise again. Just a few benefits were that the ship was not to its full capacity, which made walking through the decks and halls really nice. There were just a hand full of kids and you never really even saw them due to camp carnival and the weather was perfect as I said before. It was nice and sunny but not scorching hot. This is the 1st cruise I have ever been on that I did not come home burnt to a crisp.

The pictures below are from day 1/embarkation:
